The commonly known diesel oil also used to call as Gas oil. The word "diesel" is derived from the family name of German inventor Rudolf Diesel who in 1892 invented the compression-ignition engine. Diesel fuel is produced from petroleum and from various other sources. Petroleum-derived diesel is composed of about 75% saturated hydrocarbons, and 25% aromatic hydrocarbons.The average chemical formula for common diesel fuel is C12H23, ranging approximately from C10H20 to C15H28. Falsh point of Gas oil is 60 Deg C minimum.
